Bad Execution of YOUR Idea?

"Hell no!" I hear you say... and yet it could happen. It really, really could.

Based on the five points raised in tonight's lecture, go through your team's idea. Think of how your idea might be badly executed and how you might possibly guard against that.

Please comment on this post with your reply.

Efficient communication between team members is most likely improbable if confined to threads, especially if team members live in different time zones.

Being that the concept is very much based on wide public knowledge of the site, mass awareness would need to be raised in order for it to have any kind of chance for even the smallest amount of success. This could prove difficult, as well as potentially costly.

Awareness for Animal Cruelty Organization: Gaining publicity, Public participation in the forums, Expansion & growth, Creating an effective solution, Close minded comments, Spam, People not taking the idea seriously, Keeping people active in the site with not enough feedback, Idle petitions; leading people to believe their 2 cents didn't do anything.
Some of this can be taken care of by the voting system. If there are no effective solutions at least there is potential for raised awareness.

People are unpredictable when their intentions are put into question. The use of a device such as this has many uses and some bad. Without a means to regulate the bad its somewhat irresponsible.

It is difficult to watch over a huge group of people from different countries who can participate and add things in a game. Some may help improve it, yet it may turn out bad. Plus, people get bored easily especially with games unless we are able to hold on to their interests by continuously coming with great ideas but it can be limited to do so.

Without limiting each 'round' of the process to a certain city or area, you may end up with a team made up of candidates from around the world, making communication and working as a team difficult. Also, feedback from other candidates or the general public needs to somehow be condensed into an informative review of the individual.

my concept is very susceptible to having people take advantage of it. we need to somehow implement a proper system of checks and balances that will help the people who truly need the charity to receive it whilst creating a barrier keeping crooks and thieves from taking unfair advantage of this idea without the proper need. it is a idea of charity and giving to help out those in need. not a idea to just give to whoever so they can make money off of it.

Seeing as the main objective of the internet is to keep people connected, there are many sites devoted to just that. Being mediocre is a problem on the web. Considering our idea has been done before and will be done again it needs to be more unique. It needs something more than what the other sites offer, or it needs to be done better. People need to be made aware of it, if the marketing fails the idea will fail.

Getting applicants on board shoudnt be too hard with the proper advertising. HOWEVER I do see getting industry on board, especially before launch or in early site developement being an issue.

Project Idea: Games student/industry portal
Group Members: Kat, Antonio, Eric, Sharlene

Issues - How we would address them:
1) No one knows - link to blogs, present to games schools, pitch to industry
2) No one cares - emphasize benefits --> students gain experience, industry gain potential employees
3) Chasing - avoid going overboard with advertising
4) Losing focus - avoid making the portal too much of a show
5) Not building a great team - keep the site design simple, so we will not overhire and undermanage employees
